Evidently the Koreans have begun the preliminary groundwork for combat mecha with their latest creation. The HUBO FX-1 chair bot is a bipedal, walking chair that is controlled by the person sitting in it. At the moment it still requires an external power supply but the future intention is to replace this with fuel cells.
The technology is expected to be applied to the military within the next decade. It would essentially be used as a mobile firing platform for RPGs and chainguns.
